  • The Living Instrument Project 2012: Music and Politics

    The Living Instrument Project is a bold and innovative project celebrating the traditions of cultures worldwide within a contemporary musical setting. With the aim of combining performance with academic investigation, The Living Instrument Project is a unique initiative, appropriate for the nation’s capital, supported by the strong cultural diversity of the Canberra community.

    The LIP has a central focus that is about the building of relationships with other cultures. The focus for the 2012 event will be the traditional music, landscape and culture of Croatia.

  • The Living Instrument Project 2013: The Past Completes Us
    Focus: Music of the Bronze Age – with a focus on the Celtic Carnyx and bronze shakers, rattles and stones. The carynx is a reconstructed bronze age instrument showing how science, archeology and music can work together to recreate lost performing traditions.
